Self Portrait introduces contemporary arts practices to a field of young women and amplifies them as creators in stills portraiture and film. The content of the portraits and performance observed and mined the thresholds, barriers, and rituals for expressing self-identity.
The participants from Nelson Park School claim the power of authorship and space, experiencing shaping their own representation, rather than having others shape it. This digital outcome traces shifting rhythms of identity and place.
It’s being shaped by bold perspectives and a shared desire to slow down, look closer, and make space.
