Art Skills for Real Life

Learn new skills and techniques (and develop your existing ones) through practical in real life workshops with experienced artists.

NIGHT SCHOOL 2026 offers workshops in acting, filmmaking and contemporary dance.

Booking Information: Each workshop is a 2-class series.
Your booking includes both dates listed. Single class bookings are not available.

NIGHT SCHOOL is an event for ages 18 and over.

NIGHT SCHOOL is supported by Geelong Community Foundation and the Une Parkinson Foundation.

Back to Back Theatre is supported by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body, the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, the City of Greater Geelong and the Anthony Costa Foundation.

Schedule

  • Acting Skills For Everyday Life – Amanda LaBonté – May 11 & 18 – 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
    Build your skills and confidence in communication through playful connecting, listening and responding.
    Amanda is a Geelong based creative who has been working in the industry for over three decades as an actor, theatre maker and facilitator.
  • Fake News – Rhian Hinkley and Zia Gul Sadeqi – May 25 & June 1 – 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
    Work with green screen, lighting and video editing techniques to alter realities.
    Rhian is a filmmaker and artist, and collaborates regularly with Back to Back Theatre.
    Zia is an emerging Afghan filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist based in Djilang (Geelong).
  • Movement For Body Awareness, Self Care and Compassion – Kim Sargent-Wishart – June 15 & 22 – 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
    Engage in accessible and enjoyable somatic movement practices to rejuvenate your body and mind.
    Kim is an artist and educator specialising in somatic movement education, dance and contemplative photography.

Any NIGHT SCHOOL Participant who wishes to use their NDIS plan, must ensure they have adequate funds available in the CORE section of their plan, under Community Social and Recreational Activities (04). Please contact Back to Back via community@backtobacktheatre.com to proceed with your booking.
