< in between >

<in between> is a collaborative performance that moves through relationships. Between mother and son. Between disability and non-disability. Between music and visual art. Between sound and image. Between language and what lies beyond language.

These are not positions set against one another, but presences that exist in between.

In spaces where boundaries are usually drawn the performance opens a different sense of time, shaped by attention, proximity and relation.

The work is grounded in a simple proposition: one plus one equals one.

Not as a fusion into sameness, but as coexistence. Where each presence remains distinct while sharing time, space, and breath.

Through sound, image and shared presence < in between > unfolds a moment of relation. A time made together, in the space between.

Presented by Back to Back Theatre, <in between> is a collaborative performance by neurodivergent artist Noah Kae Choi and his mother, pianist sOojung Kae.

The Residency: South Korean Artists Noah Kae Choi and sOo-jung Kae has received grant funding from the Australia-Korea Foundation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Back to Back Theatre is supported by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body, the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, the City of Greater Geelong and the Anthony Costa Foundation.
