Darwin Community Arts will host the first stop of the Democratic Set national tour for 2012. From the 14th to the 18th of May, Back to Back will be working with the Darwin community to create it’s very own Democratic Set film. Anyone can come along and no prior experience is required.
On Monday mornings for the next 4 weeks, the Back to Back Theatre ensemble and admin team are warming up these cold autumn mornings with some yoga! We’d like to welcome Tim Oddie, Director of Geelong City Yoga to our new studio space to enlighten us all a little.

Back to Back Theatre will present small metal objects as part of the Cardiff Unity Festival 21 June – 24 June 2012.
small metal objects unfolds amidst the crowds of people outside Queens Arcade in Cardiff’s city centre. On a raised seating bank, each audience member is given a set of headphones and invited to experience an intensely personal drama being played out somewhere in the crowd.

Back to Back Theatre is currently recruiting for the role of Artistic Associate (part-time).
The Artistic Associate works closely with the Artistic Director to deliver his artistic vision for the company. The Artistic Associate takes lead responsibility for curating and delivering “Theatre of Speed” – Back to Back’s yearlong workshop and training program for young people with intellectual disabilities in Geelong – and at times will collaborate on major projects and other community initiatives. Additionally, the Artistic Associate is a central figure in supporting the Back to Back Ensemble to contribute to, and participate in, all aspects of Back to Back’s activities.
This part-time (0.6 FTE) position is offered as a fixed-term role to 31 December 2012, with the possibility of a further 12-month extension.

What a great way to start our week! GANESH VERSUS THE THIRD REICH has won three 2011 Green Room Awards for Best Ensemble Performance in the Alternative & Hybrid Performance category and Best Direction & Best Production in the Theatre category.

On Wednesday 21st March from 9.30am- 4pm, Back to Back Theatre will celebrate the opening of its new home as part of the Grand Opening of Courthouse Arts. Come along, join in the celebrations and participate in our community project THE DEMOCRATIC SET.
You can book in as groups or individuals to work alongside the Back to Back Theatre creative team for a total of 15 minutes. Call Marcia or Amelia at Back to Back Theatre on 03 5221 2029 with any questions or to book a time slot. Please note you are required to arrive 15 minutes early to complete a consent form.
Also on the day there will be plenty to see and experience all over the building. Courthouse ARTS will showcase ‘THINK’, an exhibition of cutting edge screen-printing works by 10 talented young designers.
Weather permitting there will be live music in Police Lane by our featured bands, The Hacketts and Rudely Interrupted. The general public are welcome to come along from 10.30am to enjoy a sausage sizzle, sit back in a deck chair and revel in the atmosphere.
Reserved parking will be available for THE DEMOCRATIC SET group participants, in Little Malop Street outside the Courthouse Arts Building.
Following its daring debut at the Melbourne Festival this year, there has been a lot of interest from overseas presenters. We hope to be able to announce more performance seasons of our new baby in the coming months.
GANESH VERSUS THE THIRD REICH is the second Australian production to be presented at the fabulous Vienna Festival so we feel very honored to be invited there.
The season will run from 24 – 27 May 2012.
